Doing my best is a great habit that I have adopted into my life. I do my best in everything I do and feel. I have made the choice that doing my best is a ritual in my life. It is a belief and a commitment like any other that I choose. I make everything a ritual of my own choosing and I always do my best.
For example, taking a shower is a ritual for me, and with that action I tell my body how much I love it. I feel and enjoy the water on my body. I do my best to give my body what it needs and to receive what my body gives to me.
I do my best to feed my body with the right food. I eat only whole and live foods. I make my eating a ritual. I choose my food carefully and make sure that I do my best to supply the best available food to my body. Eating is a sacred ritual for me.
I do my best to exercise my body. In December I am running a half marathon and in January I am running the Disney marathon in Orlando, Florida. My concern is not about competing with another – it is simple about my doing my best. I make it a habit of running at least 4 times per week. Running and exercise is a ritual for me.
I do my best to meditate and center everyday. Everyday for at least 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening I choose to be in complete silence and release all concerns, thoughts, feelings, words and actions. Centering and meditating is a ritual for me.
In India people perform a ritual called puja. In this ritual, they take idols that represent God in many different forms and bathe them, feed them, and give their love to them. They even chant mantras to these idols. The idols themselves are not important. What is important is the way they perform the ritual, the way they say, “I love you.”
If we could take a little lesson from this and start doing our best in treating ourselves and others with more reverence, and with more reverence for life, our entire life would change. We would immediately start to experience more love, joy, happiness and bliss in our lives.
In peace, love and light
